Kensom Community Advancement Organisation recently conducted a training session for interns on the mapping of community-based partners and stakeholders across Garissa County.
The training was held at Garissa University, bringing together interns, facilitators, and local development actors for a full-day capacity-building event.
The session aimed to equip interns with practical skills in:
- Identifying and categorizing local organizations
- Understanding partner roles in community development
- Building effective collaboration frameworks
- Using digital tools for data collection and partner mapping

Interns actively participated in both classroom sessions and interactive exercises designed to reflect real-world mapping practices. This initiative is part of Kensom’s broader mission to promote grassroots empowerment through youth engagement.
“We believe in building capacity at the grassroots. This training prepares our interns to identify who is doing what, where, and how partnerships can be strengthened,” said a Kensom trainer.
Kensom expresses gratitude to Garissa University for hosting the event and to all contributors who supported the success of the training. Insights gained from this session will inform Kensom’s future community collaboration efforts.
