Kensom Community Advancement Organization (KECAO) took part in a two-day conference focused on the strengthening of hides and skins sector among refugees and host communities in Dadaab.
The event highlighted the untapped potential of the leather industry in ASAL regions, and brought together key stakeholders working to unlock economic opportunities within the value chain.

A keynote address was delivered by the Director of KECAO, emphasizing the importance of:
- Proper slaughtering techniques
- Effective preservation of hides
- Local tanning methods
- Identifying sustainable market linkages
These efforts are aimed not only at improving leather value addition, but also at tackling youth unemployment in the region.
